Where environmental
& social issues intersect.

It’s an age-old injustice:

Those most affected by pollution are too often ignored.

Hogs trapped in slaughterhouses are forced to live in inhumane conditions. Bonefish nearly go extinct before humans take notice. And non-white residents living near toxic waste sites are either ignored or paid off.

Let’s give voice to the voiceless.

Hi. I’m Mickey.

Mickey Snowdon, This Toxic Land host

I’ve been passionate about the outdoors since I was a little kid scaling boulders and catching lizards.

As I got older, I realized that the natural world I loved was in trouble, and few people seemed to know or care.

So as a good privileged Millenial, I went on a few life-changing backpacking trips while (unsuccessfully) attempting to graduate from college.

Eventually, I earned my graduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville where I studied environmental and cultural sustainability.

This effort culminated in my thesis, which examined the disproportionate impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities in the southeastern US - past, present and future.
